Grant Assistance

JustmeRW started this conversation
I am currently an unemployed divorced father of two. Living with and caring for my elderly mother who has dementia. Situation is very difficult economically and socially. Mother is on fixed income, I am unemployed and struggling. I need a caregiver for my Mother but her low income will not afford the care. Calling on anyone who knows of a state or government grant I can apply for. We are Houston residents and, any information you can share with me, would be so helpful.

I am sorry to hear about your Mother. My Mother had dementia and it does take a toll on you! Most of the People whom work for "Department of Aging" in Illinois will give you options....Is your Mother on Medcaid? if so, they will pay for a caregiver but if you are in Houston.....I don't know what to tell you. Your governor may have depleted that portion of the program. This is why we do need government in our lives! Please call your governor's office to see if there is any additional help with assistance with elderly with dementia?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!!! Good luck and God bless
